Skylar Greathouse played Come, Now is the Time to Worship, on the piano for the Sunday School prelude.

Those having birthdays this week are: Brian Wick, Marissa Turpin, Luke Turpin, Jeff Garner, Crystal Porter, Emmett Edmonds, Macie Wick, Jason Webb, and Marlene Hunt.Those celebrating wedding anniversaries this week are: Alex and Sherry Mewes, Keith and Kayla Roosevelt, Brad and Becca Atteberry, and Andrew and Karlie Bailey.

The Youth was in charge of our morning worship service on Sunday. Tyler Peach read the prayer requests and praises. Jonah Potts read Psalm 95:6, for the Call to Worship. Those leading worship were: Hayley and Jaycey Buerster, Noah Michels, Ava Anderson, Tyler Peach, Avery Roosevelt, Raechel Hnetkovsky and Jonah Potts. Ava Anderson sang and played, Deliverance, for the morning worship special. Nolan's sermon, Focused on Christ: Redeemed, was taken from Colossians 2:9-15.

At the close of services, Campbell Biggs was presented a new Bible, her baptism certificate, and a prayer journal since she was baptized over Labor Day weekend. 

Drew Roosevelt was baptized on Saturday morning with family and close friends present. We rejoice with Drew on his decision to follow Christ's example on being baptized. We're challenged to encourage Drew as he begins his new walk with Christ!

The Women's Bible Study continues to meet on Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

Youth meetings are available for all ages on Sunday evenings. The elementary meet at the church at 6 p.m.; the junior high meet at Jason and Kelley Biggs' at 5:30-7 p.m.; and the high school meet at Jim and Jodi Peach's home at 6 p.m. The church van is available for pick up. An All-Church trip to Shreve's Pumpkin Patch, south of Fairfield, will be on Sunday, Oct. 13. There will be a hayride around 5 p.m., then a wiener roast and devotion will follow at 6 p.m. Drinks and table service will be provided. Please bring your lawn chairs and a finger food to share!

Operation Christmas Child boxes are available in the foyer. They are due back to the church by Nov. 10. Shipping is $9 per box. Checks should be made payable to West Village Christian Church and can be put in the box or given to Linda Stennett or Chris Heindselman.

There will be a church band/orchestra for the Christmas program. Instrument players of all ages are needed. If you are interested, please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board. Invite a friend if you would like!

WVCC will be taking a trip to the Ark Encounter on Nov. 2. Transportation will be provided, but everyone is responsible for their own ticket. If you would like to go, please sign up on the bulletin board.

West Village will be having a one-day revival on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The quarter, Fortress, will be providing music. Desserts are needed for a time of fellowship afterward. If interested, please contact David Lane.

The Albion Trunk or Treat will be on Oct. 26. 

On Nov. 10, West Village will be going to Grayville to play Putt Putt golf at the Rest Up Camping & RV Corral.

The Missions for October will go to Tim and Erin MacSaveny with Pioneer Bible Translators, Pinehaven, and Campus Outreach.

The Edwards County High School class of 1979 had their 40th Class Reunion at Homestead Vineyards in West Salem on Saturday night. Those in attendance from the West Village area were: Rick Mason of Naperville; Steve and Bonita (Fewkes) Thomason of Bone Gap; Roger and Charlotte Shelby; Larry and Marla (Caldwell) Alexander of Anacortes, California; and Jim and Chris (Gill) Heindselman. The Class of 1978 was invited so Lyndall Caldwell of Overland Park, Kansas and Bill and Charlotte (Douglas) Tribe also attended the reunion.

Hallie Murbarger of Champaign spent the weekend with Lonny and Valerie Murbarger and visited with Edwin and Lila Fewkes on Saturday morning. She attended services at West Village on Sunday morning, then had lunch with her parents before returning to Champaign.

Marla Alexander of Anacortes, Washington and Lyndall Caldwell of Overland Park, Kansas were weekend visitors of Bob and Linda Caldwell, and they attended worship services at West Village on Sunday morning.
