An Albion couple sustained major injuries in a three-car crash last Thursday on Illinois Route 15 near the Wabash-Edwards County line. Those involved in the crash have been identified by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department as Donald and Corless Woods, both 58 of Albion, Patricia J. Cotsakis, 89 of Browns and Charles M. Porter and a passenger from Wabash County.

Wabash County Sheriff Derek Morgan reports that Cotsakis was eastbound in a 2011 Buick. Woods and Porter were both traveling westbound. Cotsakis attempted to make a left hand turn in front of Woods’ vehicle. Woods car crashed into Cotsakis’ car with the impact sending both off the roadway, rolling multiple times. Porter’s vehicle was damaged due to flying debris from the accident. He was not injured.

Donald and Corless Wood received major injuries and were both taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville via helicopter. Patricia Cotsakis was taken to Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel.

The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by fire department personnel from Bellmont, Browns and Albion, the Edwards County Sheriff’s Department and two Air Evac helicopters and the Wabash General Hospital Ambulance Service. The crash was reported at 5:13 last Thursday afternoon.
