Mount Carmel man dies in crash



Zachary Ryan Spruell, 20 of Mount Carmel died Saturday, September 11 in a single vehicle crash in Mount Carmel.  Zachary is the grandson of Glenna Spruell and Roger Mosberger of Grayville.

Mount Carmel Police Chief Michael McWilliams said his officers responded to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of South Cherry Street and Beauchamp Street around 11:17 last Saturday morning.  Arriving officers say they found a 2003 Ford Taurus had collided with a large mound of dirt on the south side of the intersection, went airborne, rolled over on its passenger side and came to rest on its wheels.  

The driver, identified as Zachary Spruell was pronounced dead at the scene.  Chief McWilliams said it appears the accident happened sometime overnight and was not discovered until the following day due to the location of the crash.

Mount Carmel police were assisted at the scene by the Wabash County Coroner and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.
